Minister Senthilbalaji, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged money laundering case, is likely to undergo a surgery to treat the blocks in his heart on Wednesday, according to Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said.

Shortly after taking up rain-related inspections in Chennai on Tuesday, he said Mr. Senthilbalaji has three “critical” blocks in the heart and he would undergo an open heart surgery.

The Minister is undergoing treatment at Kauvery Hospital after being shifted from the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital, Omandurar Estate. Doctors of Kauvery Hospital had advised early Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery.

Mr. Subramanian said his fitness for surgery was determined on Monday night.
