Registering a new high in the number of daily cases detected, India has overtaken Spain to become the country with the fifth highest confirmed COVID-19 infections.
The death toll is nearing 7,000, even as the recovery rate remained at close to 48%. Cases have steadily risen, doubling every 17 days, among the fastest in countries with the most infections.

53 new cases reported in Tripura
With 53 new COVID-19 cases, the count in Tripura rised to 803 cases. 19 patients were discharged, taking total recoveries to 193.
As many as 1,282 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Delhi taking the total number of cases to 28936. No deaths were reported in the past 24 hours but the total deaths was revised to 812.
335 people recovered taking total recoveries to 10999. There are 17125 active cases
People stay indoors during weekend shutdown in 11 Odisha districts
People stayed indoors as the two-day weekend shutdown imposed by the Odisha government in 11 of the 30 districts with high COVID-19 cases ended on Sunday as part of efforts to flatten the rising corona infection curve.
Roads also wore an empty in the districts with people consciously refraining from stepping out in strict adherence to the two-day weekend shutdown restrictions since Saturday in these districts where Covid cases have been rising, officials said.
However, security was tightened as part of measures to enforce the complete shutdown of non-essential services on Saturdays and Sundays in the 11 districts - Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Bolangir, they said.
The two-day weekend shutdown will continue in these districts till the end of June, they said.
Religious places continue to remain shut in J&K
The Jammu and Kashmir administration announced that religious places would continue to remain closed in the Union Territory as it allowed certain activities, including reopening of malls, barber shops, hotels and restaurants with new guidelines from Monday. The administration on Sunday also exempted private transport from the purview of the coronavirus-triggered lockdown outside containment zones but decided against allowing inter-state and inter-province movement without passes.
Earlier during the day, the administration issued a fresh classification of the districts on the eve of implementation of the lockdown relaxations in the country effective till June 30. While eight districts in Kashmir and one in Jammu were placed under red zone indicating no change in the lockdown restrictions till this month end, nine districts -- seven in Jammu province and two in Kashmir -- were covered under orange zone and two other districts, both in Jammu region, in green zone.
Only 20.26 lakh migrants got free foodgrains so far: Govt data
The State governments have been able to supply free foodgrains to only 20.36 lakh migrant beneficiaries so far against the target of 8 crore migrants, who do not have central or state ration card, according to data released by the Union Food Ministry on Sunday.
To ensure migrants do not go hungry due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the central government had on May 14 announced 5 kg free foodgrains per person and 1 kg chana per family to 8 crore migrants for two months as part of the Rs 20 lakh crore economic package. The free food is to be distributed to those who do not have either central or state ration cards.
In a statement, the Union Food Ministry said, “The states and union territories have lifted 4.42 lakh tones of foodgrains and distributed 10,131 tonnes of foodgrains to 20.26 lakh beneficiaries“.
The analysis of the data shows that the number of migrant beneficiaries who have received free grains comprise only 2.25 per cent of the total target. Also, the quantity of grains distributed remains less compared to the total 7.99 lakh tonnes to be distributed in May and June.
Places of worship, hotels in Nagaland to remain shut
Nagaland, which has witnessed a recent spurt in COVID-19 cases, has decided to keep places of worship and hotels in the Christian-majority state closed till further orders, a senior official said on Sunday.
The Centre has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for reopening of religious institutions, hotels and restaurants from Monday.
Lockdown measures issued by the chief secretary of Nagaland on May 4 will remain in place till further orders, Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha told reporters here.
“All places of worship shall be closed for public. Religious congregations are strictly prohibited,” the notification issued by the chief secretary on May 4 said.
The notification was issued to extend lockdown in the state.
86% of COVID-19 cases in TN asymptomatic, says TN CM
As much as 86 per cent of Tamil Nadu’s COVID-19 cases have been found to be asymptomatic, and the lockdown and related curbs have helped keep the pandemic under check, Chief Minister K Palaniswami said on Sunday.
In a statement detailing the various efforts taken to address the COVID-19 situation since February, he also said that the state’s mortality rate was the lowest when compared to even some foreign countries, besides other Indian states.
Tamil Nadu, he said, also had the best recovery rate.
However, DMK chief M K Stalin questioned Palaniswami’s statement and said the CM should not do “lip service” but take proactive steps to contain the rapid spread of the pandemic in Chennai and added that the government should ascertain whether there was community transmission in the city.
Jitendra Singh launches COVID BEEP app, says ‘effective antidote’ to pandemic
Awareness and not anxiety is the key to fighting the coronavirus pandemic, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday at the launch of ‘COVID BEEP’, the country’s first indigenous wireless physiological parameters monitoring system for the affected patients.
Mr. Singh also said COVID BEEP would emerge as an effective antidote to the pandemic which the entire world is currently grappling with, a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry said.
Launching COVID BEEP, developed by Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical college, Hyderabad in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad and the Department of Atomic Energy, he stressed on the importance of prevention and awareness in dealing with this pandemic effectively as the process of unlock has started in a phased manner after a lockdown for over two months.
COVID BEEP, that stands for Continuous Oxygenation & Vital Information Detection Biomed ECIL ESIC Pod, is India’s first indigenous, cost effective, wireless physiological parameters monitoring system for COVID-19 patients, according to the statement.
The latest version of COVID BEEP has incorporated NIBP (non-invasive blood pressure) monitoring, ECG (electrocardiogram) monitoring and the respiratory rate, the statement said.
60 COVID-19 cases in one Kanpur lane
Sixty people have tested positive for coronavirus in a single 200-metre lane here with authorities saying that a corporator staying there was the first one to catch the infection.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Ashok Shukla said, “In a bylane of Vidyut Colony located in Barra Police Station area, 60 people have tested COVID-19 positive since Thursday. Most of them have not shown any signs of the infection.”
According to Shukla, the local corporator had fallen ill following his return from Gorakhpur and along with his representative had tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.
“People who came in contact with the corporator and his representative were traced and in a span of four days, 60 locals were found to be COVID-19 positive. Of them, 20 are women,” he said.
“The densely populated bylane is barely 15 feet wide and almost 200 metre-long,” Shukla said, adding that most of the residents sell milk, vegetables and fruits.
They have been admitted to Rama Medical College and the area has been declared as a hotspot, he said.
Religious places to open in Ghaziabad on Monday, malls from June 11
The Ghaziabad administration has given the go-ahead to allow hotels, restaurants and eateries to function from June 10 and the malls to open from June 11 in the district relaxing lockdown curbs.
The religious places, though, can open from Monday itself.
In a meeting with the owners of various malls and hotels on Sunday, the administration instructed them to follow Union Health ministry guidelines to stop the spread of coronavirus once they start functioning.
Those found flouting COVID-19 norms would be put to task while the owners who enforce protocol measures would be honoured by authorities, District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey told PTI .

Russia has 9,000 new virus infections, no letup
As other nations in Europe report sharply lower new coronavirus cases, Russia has recorded nearly 9,000 new infections over the past day.
The number is roughly in line with those reported over the past week as the spread of the virus may be reaching a plateau in Russia.
The national task force for the pandemic said 8,984 new cases were recorded in a day, and 134 people died of the virus. New cases of the virus have hovered around 9,000 per day since the middle of May.
Restaurants in Goa allowed to reopen from Monday
Restaurants in Goa will be allowed to reopen from Monday, although the ban on operations of other establishments like schools, colleges, cinema halls, gyms, will continue as earlier, an official said on Sunday.
In its fresh set of guidelines regarding the lockdown issued on Sunday, the state government also gave relaxation of two hours for movement of individuals for non-essential activities, the official said.
While the current ban on such movement is between 7 pm and 5 am, from Monday onwards, it would be restricted to 9 pm and 5 am.
The collectors of both the districts- South Goa and North Goa- issued these guidelines separately.
There was clerical error, matter being sorted out: Sources on Ganga Ram case
Two days after an FIR was filed against Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) for allegedly violating COVID-19 regulation norms, sources at the facility on Sunday said there was a “clerical mistake” and the matter is “being sorted out“.
The FIR was filed against the medical superintendent of SGRH under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly violating directions issued under the Epidemic Disease COVID-19 Regulation, 2020.
According to the complaint, the hospital was allegedly not using RT-PCR app while collecting COVID-19 samples. As per the guidelines, it is “mandatory” for labs to collect samples through RT-PCR app, it said.
Big surge in Maharashtra
Maharashtra recorded its second-highest case surge in a day with 3,007 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday as its total case tally breached the 85,000-mark to reach 85,975. The State's cumulative case tally has now exceeded China's reported total case tally of nearly 84,000 cases.
43,591 cases of Maharashtra's total case tally are active ones. 91 new deaths to take the State's total death toll to 3,060. As many as 1,924 patients were discharged today, taking the total number of discharged till date to 39,314.
Mumbai's total case tally has now crossed the 48,000 mark to reach 48,774 with the city reporting 1,420 new cases, while it's death toll has risen to 1,638. As many as 61 of the new deaths reported today were from Mumbai city, eight from Solapur district and six from Pune district among other parts of the state.
CRPF jawan succumbs to COVID-19; 11th death in paramilitary forces
A 37-year-old Central Reserve Police Force jawan suffering from cancer has succumbed to COVID-19, taking the total number of deaths due to the disease in the country’s largest paramilitary force to three, officials said on Sunday.
They said the jawan, a constable of the 141st battalion, died at a hospital here on Friday.
The jawan was under treatment for oropharyngeal cancer since April and was later found infected with the novel coronavirus that claimed his life, the officials said.
This is the third death due to COVID-19 in CRPF, which has about 3.25 lakh personnel, and 11th among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), or the paramilitary forces.
The Central Industrial Security Force has reported four deaths, the Border Security Force two and the Sashastra Seema Bal and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police one each.
COVID-19 cases in Aurangabad district go past 2,000 mark
The number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district crossed the 2,000 mark and reached to 2,020 on Sunday after 70 more people tested positive for the infection, a district official said.
The death toll stands at 99 so far.
The number of the recovered patients stood at 1,184 while 737 others are undergoing treatment, the official said.
When asked about the rise in the number of cases, municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey said, “We are in the unlock mode now“.
He said a change is observed in the trajectory of coronavirus, which has been in Aurangabad since the last three months now.
Tamil Nadu reports 1,515 cases, 18 deaths on Sunday
Tamil Nadu, on Sunday, reported a huge spike of 1,515 cases. The total number of confirmed cases stood at 31,667. The bulletin states that 15,671 persons were tested. With 18 deaths, the death toll has risen to 269. 604 persons were discharged today taking the total number of discharged to 16,999.
Out of 1,515 cases, Chennai accounted for 1,155. The total number of cases in Chennai stood at 22,149.
Karnataka reports 239 cases, two deaths on Sunday
Karnataka, on Sunday, reported 239 news cases and two deaths. With the rise of cases, the total confirmed cases stood at 5452.
With the two more succumbing, the death toll stood at 61. The total number of recovered persons stood at 2132.

Central team studying Assam COVID-19 management
A three-member Central team has been touring Assam since June 4 to study the State’s COVID-19 management, officials said on Sunday.
“The team has held a series of discussions with senior officials over the COVID-19 situation in the State. The team members are expected to submit a report after their week-long tour is over,” said Samir Kumar Sinha, Assam’s Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare Department).
The Central team comprises Ajay Tiwari, Joint Secretary in Ministry of Labour and Employment and N.N. Naskar and Snigdha Basu, both from the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health. They have been visiting various medical colleges, hospital, COVID-19 care centres and quarantine centres in the State.
Assam’s Health Minister Himanta Himanta Biswa Sarma said some 2.50 lakh people have so far returned to Assam from 14 states, leading to a surge in the number of coronavirus patients in the State.
With 92 fresh cases by 5 pm on Sunday, Assam’s COVID-19 positive cases climbed to 2,565 of which 1,943 were active. Four people, including a 16-year-old girl died.

Rajasthan clocking over 73% recovery rate from COVID: Health minister
Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma on Sunday said out of 10,385 COVID-19 patients in the state, 7,606 have been cured, registering a 73.24 percent recovery rate.
Sharma said if the number of infected patients is increasing in the state, the cases of recovery are also increasing in the same proportion.
So far, about 5 lakh people have been tested for virus infection and more than 1.25 lakh tests have been done at the state’s largest Sawai Man Singh Hospital here alone.
The health minister said the number of corona patients in the state is doubling in 21 days, while their death rate is 2.25 percent.
Journalist succumbs to COVID-19 in Telangana
A 36-year-old journalist working for a Telugu television channel succumbed to COVID-19 at the state-run Gandhi Hospital here on Sunday.
He was admitted on June 4 after being referred from another state-run hospital.
The journalist had bilateral pneumonia with Type-1 respiratory failure and Acute Respiratory Disease Syndrome (ARDS) when he was admitted, doctors at the hospital said.
He was also suffering from Myasthenia Gravis, a long-term neuromuscular disease that leads to varying degrees of skeletal muscle weakness, they said.
“He was in the ICU and was being attended to by a team of doctors round the clock. I myself also visited him very frequently.
Archdiocese in Ernakulam not to open churches for masses till June 30
An archdiocese of Catholic Church in Kerala on Sunday said churches under it would not offer services till June 30 despite the state government giving permission for reopening of the places of worship, easing the COVID-19 lockdown curbs in accordance with the Centre’s guidelines.
Although masses and other services would not be carried out, the churches can, however, be opened for the faithful to go and say individual prayers, the Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese under the Syro-Malabar Church said in a statement.
This decision has been taken in view of spread of novel coronavirus in the areas under its jurisdiction, it said.
Mysuru Palace, Zoo, Chamundi Hills to be thrown open for visitors from Monday
Places of tourist interest like Mysuru Palace, Mysuru Zoo and Chamundi Hills, which were out of bounds for visitors for the past several weeks in view of the measures taken by the government to prevent spread of COVID-19, will reopen from June 8.
The reopening of the prominent places of tourist interest in Mysuru coincides with the resumption of dining in services at restaurants and other eateries.

Haryana’s COVID-19 count crosses 4K, Gurgaon tally nears 1,800
Haryana reported 191 COVID-19 cases, including 78 from the worst-affected Gurgaon district, as the infection tally breached the 4,000-mark, according to the State Health department’s bulletin.
With the fresh cases, the virus count in Gurgaon, which falls in the National Capital Region, rose to 1,770. There are 1,395 active cases in the district, the bulletin said.
The total cases in Haryana has now reached 4,143.
Among other districts, Faridabad reported 55 fresh cases while Narnaul 25.

366 stranded migrants left for Odisha on three special flights from Jammu, thanking the Naveen Patnaik government and the Jammu and Kashmir administration for making arrangements for their return, officials said here.
“The first flight, carrying 122 passengers , left for Odisha around 9.30 am, followed by two other flights with equal number of passengers each at 10.20 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.,” an airport official said.
Religious places in Gujarat to hold prayers in shifts, start token system
Temples, mosques, churches and other places of worship outside COVID-19 containment zones in Gujarat are planning to open their doors for devotees from Monday after over two months, while taking all precautions to check the spread of COVID-19.
To maintain social distancing and avoid crowding, some of the religious places have decided to organise prayers in shifts and even start a token system to specify time slots to devotees for visits.
The famous Somnath temple in Gir Somnath district will open for local devotees from Monday, but visitors from other districts will have to first register themselves online, starting June 12, an official of the temple trust said.
Global death toll from COVID-19 crosses 4,00,000
The worldwide death toll from COVID-19 has surpassed 4,00,000, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University that health experts say is still an undercount because many who died were not tested for the virus.
Worldwide, at least 6.9 million people have been infected by the virus, according to Johns Hopkins.

Culture Ministry nod to open 820 ASI monuments which have places of worship from June 8
The Union Culture Ministry approved opening of 820 centrally protected monuments under the Archeological Survey of India which has places of worship from June 8, Minister Prahlad Patel said.
The ministry clarified that as per the instructions of the ministry of home affairs, the culture ministry has decided to open only those monuments among the over 3,000 ASI-maintained monuments, where religious worship takes place such as Nila Mosque at Hauz Khas enclave, the Qutub archaeological area, Lal Gumbad in Delhi.
He said that all coronavirus-related protocols issued by the health ministry will be followed by the monument authorities.

Calcutta HC asks Centre, State to reply on allegations of ill-prepared lockdown easing
The Calcutta High Court directed the Centre and the West Bengal government to file separate reports on allegations that the lockdown was being eased without taking necessary steps to curb the spread of coronavirus.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice T B N Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee directed the Union of India and the State government on Friday to file their reports dealing with the allegations made in a PIL by June 11, when the matter will be taken up for further consideration.
The PIL, moved by lawyer Anindya Sundar Das , also said that proper surveillance was not being maintained in various districts of West Bengal with regard to quarantine of migrant labourers.
Sub-jails in T.N. fill up fast as lockdown restrictions ease
With lockdown restrictions being eased, crime rate in Chennai has gone up and the sub-jails in the city’s outskirts are filling up fast .
From an average of hundred admissions daily during May, it went up to 344 on June 3, officials said. “We are following strong protocols while admitting remand prisoners. For the first 14 days, the remand prisoners are being lodged in sub-jails in Poonamallee, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram before being taken to Central Prison-II, Puzhal.”
Sri Lanka holds mock poll to test guidelines and preparedness for parliamentary election
Sri Lanka’s election commission has held a mock poll in the southern Galle district to test the COVID-19 health guidelines and its preparedness for the parliamentary polls likely to be held between late July and mid August.
The parliamentary polls were initially to be held on April 25, but had to be postponed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which prompted the authorities to announce a nationwide lockdown from March 20.
Some 200 voters from the Ambalangoda polling division in Galle district were chosen to ‘vote’ at the mock poll , according to an official.
Reporter with Telugu news channel dies of COVID-19
A 33-year-old reporter from Hyderabad who died of COVID-19 in the morning. A resident of Maddanapet, he was employed with a Telugu news channel.
He was initially admitted at Fever Hospital, Nallakunta, and shifted to Gandhi Hospital, Musheerabad, after testing positive for coronavirus on June 4.
The Gandhi Hospital authorities said that he had history of Myasthenia Gravis (Neuromuscular disorder). “He was shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after complaining of breathlessness. He died at 9.37 a.m. on Sunday ,” said Dr. M. Raja Rao, superintendent of Gandhi Hospital.
Goa temples to remain closed
A meeting of nine major temples in Goa was held at the Mahalsa Devasthan in Mardol and a decision was taken against opening temples for devotees from June 8 owing to the increasing spread of COVID-19.
Places of religious worship have been permitted to reopen from Monday. Churches and mosques in Goa had already decided to remain closed.
Till the night of June 6, Goa had 202 active cases of COVID-19.

Annamalai University to conduct viva voce through video conferencing on Tuesday
Annamalai University to conduct viva voce for Ph.D scholars through video conferencing.
According to an official, the university had suspended classes following a directive from the State government due to the lockdown.

COVID-19 cases in Pakistan inching closer to 1,00,000-mark
A record 4,960 fresh coronavirus cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 98,943 in Pakistan, according to the Ministry of National Health Services.
With 67 more fatalities due to COVID-19, the death toll jumped to 2,002 in the country.

Bengaluru issues SOP on home quarantining for different categories of travellers
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to be followed, based on the protocols.
According to the order, screening of all persons at entry level by the designated teams deployed is mandatory, as is self-registration on Seva Sindhu portal by travellers.
The order states the different categories of travellers who have to be home quarantined. Special category of asymptomatic persons may be exempted from institutional quarantine on arrival, such as those travelling in case of death in the family, pregnant women, children aged below 10 years, senior citizens aged above 60 years, those with serious illness and those under distress.
Delhi Medical Association condemns Kejriwal’s ‘threats’
The Delhi Medical Association condemned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s comments, ‘threatening’ hospitals over the admission and testing of COVID-19 patients.
“Doctors who are serving the people of Delhi tirelessly for the last two months in this pandemic crisis, risking their lives, feel insulted by the way they are being treated,” it said in a statement.
Hitting out at the FIR filed against Sri Ganga Ram hospital, the association said that it was demoralising for the entire medical fraternity. The hospital and its doctors “who have saved lakhs of lives in last decades are being penalised and threatened,” it said.
Thailand reports eight new coronavirus cases, no new deaths
Thailand reported eight new coronavirus cases and no new deaths, taking its total to 3,112 infections and 58 deaths since the outbreak began in January.
The new cases were returnees - five from the United Arab Emirates, two from Kuwait and one from India - and were in quarantine, where most of Thailand's recent cases have been detected, said Panprapa Yongtrakul, an assistant spokeswoman for the government's COVID-19 Administration Centre.

Delhi to open borders from tomorrow: CM Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a press conference said that restaurants, malls and religious places will be allowed to open as per Central government's instructions.
He advised the elderly and people with co-morbidities to remain in room quarantine in their homes.
He said that while Delhi borders will be opened from June 8, people from outside the State will not be allowed treatment in govt-run hospitals in Delhi due to coronavirus risk.
"Private hospitals will be reserved only for Delhiites unless they do special surgeries that are conducted only in that particular hospital," he said.
Meanwhile, central government hospitals will be open for people from across the country. "We do not have any jurisdiction over central hospitals," said the CM.
"We will need 15,000 beds by the end of June for Delhiites. If we allow people to come from outside, these beds will be filled up in 3 days," he said, defending the decision. The CM added that both Delhi government and Central government hospitals corrently have 10,000 beds.

India is still at risk, says WHO expert
COVID-19 has not “exploded” in India, but the risk of it happening remains as the country moves towards exiting the lockdown that was imposed in March to contain the disease, according to a top WHO expert.
WHO Health Emergencies Programme executive director Michael Ryan said on June 5 the doubling time of cases in India was about three weeks at this stage. So the direction of travel of the epidemic was not exponential but it was still growing, he said.
5 JIPMER doctors among 12 new cases in Puducherry
Puducherry has registered 12 new COVID-19 cases, resulting in the tally of active cases in the UT to reach 70.
The new cases include five doctors from JIPMER.

Record single-day spike of 9,971 COVID-19 cases; death toll 6,929: Health ministry
India registered its highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday, with 9,971 new infections taking the country’s tally to 2,46,628, while the death toll rose to 6,929, according to the Union Health Ministry.
India registered 287 deaths in the last 24 hours since Saturday morning.
India had raced past Spain on Saturday to become the fifth worst-hit nation by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, only the U.S., Brazil, Russia and the UK are ahead of it.

Adherence to lockdown keep Daman, Diu coronavirus-free
The Daman and Diu districts of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli have not reported any COVID-19 case so far, and the administration has attributed this to strict implementation of the lockdown orders and commitment of ‘corona warriors’
There are nearly 2.5 lakh industrial workers in Daman and Diu, which are also quite popular among tourists, the Union Territory’s administrator Praful Patel said on Sunday.
Despite bordering Gujarat and being close to Maharashtra, two of the worst affected states, Daman and Diu have remained free of the viral disease so far because public followed the lockdown guidelines, he said.
While Dadra and Nagar Haveli has reported 19 COVID-19 cases, there has been no case so far in Daman and Diu. - PTI
IOC says Unlock 1.0 to revive fuel sales soon
Weeks after the coronavirus lockdown led to fuel sales nosediving to record lows, Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the nation’s largest oil firm, sees demand returning with the resumption of economic activities.
The company said though it is on track to spend the approved capital expenditure for 2020-21, it has “critically examined all capex proposals for rationalisation of cost and time frame.”

Odisha reported 75 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the State’s tally to 2,856, said officials on Sunday.
With 1,716 persons having already recovered, the total number of active cases now stand at 1,129.

Brazil removes COVID-19 data from public view, hiding soaring death toll
Brazil removed from public view months of its COVID-19 data on Saturday, as President Jair Bolsonaro defended delays and changes to official record-keeping of the world's second-largest coronavirus outbreak.
Brazil's Health Ministry removed the data from a website that had documented the epidemic over time and by state and municipality.
The ministry also stopped giving a total count of confirmed cases, which have shot past 6,72,000 more than anywhere outside the United States or a total death toll, which passed Italy this week, nearing 36,000 by Saturday.
1,320 new virus cases in Delhi
A total of 1,320 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Delhi in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 27,654. Also, 53 more deaths have been reported taking the total to 761. All the deaths did not happen in the past 24 hours.
Of the total cases, 10,664 people have recovered and there are 16,229 active cases. As per the government, there are 4,412 (51%) vacant beds in hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government has issued a guideline for “clinical management protocol for adult patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection”.

China reports six new COVID-19 cases, five asymptomatic cases
China reported six new cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday, three more than the previous day.
Five of the new cases, recorded by late Saturday, involved travellers arriving from abroad, the National Health Commission (NHC) said on its website.
One locally transmitted case was found in the southern island province of Hainan.
