Pune is one of the 48 parliamentary seats in the State of Maharashtra, India. The constituency consists of six Assembly segments in Pune district. Pune Cantonment Assembly seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes. As the second largest district in the state, Pune covers approximately 5% of Maharashtra's total geographical area. The Lok Sabha seat has traditionally been a battleground between the BJP and Congress. The BJP has maintained its grip on the constituency since the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Before this, Congress’s Suresh Kalmadi represented the seat, securing victories in both the 2004 and 2009 elections.
