Established in 1688, Chennai Corporation is the oldest municipal body in India and the second oldest city civic body after London. Officially called the Greater Chennai Corporation it governs Chennai city, the capital of Tamil Nadu. The Chennai Corporation covers 426 square kilometres and comprises 15 zones from Thiruvottiyur in the north of Chennai to Sholinganallur in the south.
