The three accused in the Bulandshahr gang rape case were on Monday sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

The Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday arrested the three and detained a dozen others after launching a massive hunt for a gang of dacoits suspected to have gang-raped a mother and her daughter.

The woman from Noida and her minor daughter were raped on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday after being dragged out of their car by dacoits near a highway in western U.P. They were travelling with other family members to their native place in Shahjahanpur to attend a family ritual.

The car was hit by a blunt metal object near village Dostpur on the Delhi-Kanpur Highway and when the driver got down to examine the damage, he was surrounded by the dacoits. They overpowered him and forced the car off the main road towards a thicket.
