Suspected ISI agent arrested in Chennai

The ‘Q’ Branch CID of the Tamil Nadu Police on Tuesday arrested a 37-year old Sri Lankan national, suspected to be an agent of an ISI operative, in Chennai, and seized photographs of vital installations and counterfeit currency from him.

According to sources in the police, Sakir Hussain was suspected to be an operating on the instructions of an ISI agent based in Colombo.

“He was planning to sabotage many important structures in Chennai, including the US consulate. He was planning attacks in other parts of the country,” a police officer said. A case has been registered under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and IPC.
