The Election Commission of India has rescheduled the date of counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim from June 4 to June 2.

The date was advanced by two days as the current term of the Houses in the two States expires on June 2.

Elections to the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh and the 32-member Sikkim Assembly are scheduled for April 19. The elections to two Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh and one in Sikkim would also be held that day.

There will be no change in respect of the schedule for the parliamentary constituencies in the two northeastern States, a statement from ECI secretary Sanjeev Kumar Prasad said on Sunday.
