33 cases booked against ganja peddlers in Avadi Police Commissionerate

As many as 33 cases were booked and 52 ganja peddlers were arrested in the Avadi Police Commissionerate in the last two weeks.

Following DGP C.Sylendra Babu’s orders to conduct a State-wide crackdown on ganja, Avadi Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore instructed his subordinates to conduct special ganja raids in the jurisdiction.

In connection with this, special teams were formed to curb ganja peddlers, and 33 cases were registered against 52 accused. They also seized about 35 kg of the contraband and six vehicles from them.

Further, Mr. Rathore said stringent action would be initiated against those involved in the possession and sale of ganja. He also added that steps will be taken to confiscate the assets of the accused.

He requested the public to provide information about the peddling and selling of ganja offences to 7305735666 and 7305135666. The identity of the informer will be kept anonymous, he added.
