Bengaluru Sports journalist Sidhanta Patnaik passed away here on Saturday after a prolonged illness. He was 34.

Born in Bhubaneswar, Sidhanta spent most of his journalism career in Bengaluru. He began his career as a freelance writer with Cricket Country, before joining Wisden India in 2012. He was an integral part of the Wisden India Almanack team, and oversaw the running of Women’s CricZone website and magazine until recently.

A champion of women’s cricket, Sidhanta co-authored a book titled The Fire Burns Blue: A History of Women’s Cricket in India .

Sidhanta is survived by his parents, wife and daughter. The Sports Writers Association of Bangalore (SWAB) condoled his death.
