Australia opening batsman Chris Rogers has confirmed that he will retire from international cricket after the Ashes series in England later this year.
Rogers, 37, told local media on Monday that he intends the Ashes series to be his last for Australia in all forms of cricket.
Rogers made his test debut in 2008 and was recalled for the 2013 Ashes series. He has made more than 1,500 runs at an average of 40 in 20 test appearances.
Rogers told Fox Sports “I’ve been pretty fortunate to have this second go at it and have loved every moment of it, but time calls on everyone and I think it’s nearly up for me. I think to go out in the Ashes and in England where I’ve played a lot of cricket is pretty fitting.”
