Aparajith's century helps TN's cause

B. Aparajith's unbeaten 113 ensured Tamil Nadu gained the first innings lead, and with it, three points against Andhra on the final day of the Cooch Behar Trophy (under-19) Elite ‘C' match, here on Sunday.

Along with K. Bharath Shankar (88, 10x4, 2x6), Aparajith put on 214 runs for the first wicket.

The match was called off after Bharath Shankar's dismissal (run-out).

Sabarish scalps six

Meanwhile at Hyderabad, the home team's medium-pacer K. Sabarish's six for 66 was the highlight of the final day's play it drew its match against Punjab. He finished with 10 wickets in the game.

Bengal beats Tripura

At Kalyani, Bengal trounced Tripura by an innings and 78 runs. N. Debnath (117) and M. Mora Singh (123) played well for Tripura.

The Elite Group B match between Jharkhand and Kerala ended in a draw at Ranchi without a ball being bowled on the final day owing to rain. The two points helped Jharkhand tie with Delhi on four points. The former, which had a better quotient (0.81) than Delhi (0.53), will remain in the Elite division while Delhi will be demoted.

At Chennai: Andhra 195 in 62 overs drew with Tamil Nadu 214 for one in 48.5 overs (B. Aparajith 113 n.o., K. Bharath Shankar 88).

At Hyderabad: Punjab 582 & 183 (Mohit Handa 55, K. Sabarish six for 66) drew with Hyderabad 383 & 11 for no loss.

At Mysore: Karnataka 484 for nine decl. & 163 for three (Shreyas Gopal 70 n.o., R. Samarth 46) drew with Saurashtra 514 (Kunal Karamchandani 104, Divyaraj Chauhan 91, Jay Chauhan 138, Prerak Mankad 46, Shreyas Gopal four for 124, Md. Taha three for 98).

At Kalyani: Tripura 196 and 333 (N. Debnath 117, M. Mora Singh 123, Vivek Singh five for 72) lost to Bengal 607 for seven declared.

At Ranchi: Jharkhand 415 drew with Kerala 316 for five. No play on final day.

At Dibrugarh: Assam 286 and 327 for eight (S. Brahma 129 n.o., R. Sharma 54, J. Bhumij 84, M. Mann four for 113) drew with Haryana 395.
