A section of the forests in Kerameri mandal, about 500 m away from Dhanora village on the Kerameri-Asifabad road, is currently being cleared by villagers apparently to convert the forest land into an agriculture field. A rough estimates puts the number of trees felled at 50, many of which lie scattered on the hillock where the clearing is being made.

This is the area where the Forest Department had invested precious money to dig trenches in order to demarcate forests and forest lands and prevent encroachers from entering the area. The trenches are almost gone due to lack of supervision which is also the reason for villagers cutting trees in a brazen manner.

The area in question is already a much degraded forest stretch and needs protection for the forest to regrow through natural regeneration.

The latest attempt to encroach upon forests will spell doom for vegetation in the area if it goes unchecked.
