Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman met actor Kamal Haasan at the latter's office in Chennai on Tuesday. The meeting comes a day before Mr. Haasan is scheduled to launch his political party in Madurai.
Mr. Seeman, who strongly opposes actor Rajinikanth 's proposed foray into politics and often identifies the latter as a non-Tamil, told journalists that he had been a big fan of Mr. Haasan since his younger days. Mr. Haasan's family had been helping people in fighting court cases in his hometown Paramakudi, he said.
Asked if there is a possibility of them getting together electorally, Mr. Haasan said that it could be considered only after he formally announced the policies that his party would follow. "Only after those announcements, Mr. Seeman can make his decision. I am meeting political party leaders in an attempt to reclaim the lost tradition... He is here to wish me well for my political journey."
'Will not meet AIADMK leaders'
Mr. Haasan said he would not meet ruling AIADMK leaders. "I have been saying that they are unfit to govern the state."
There should be a greater participation of people in politics. "It is my wish that everyone must get involved in politics. It cannot be left to those who are already doing it," he said.
