University student rapes Class VI student in Gurugram

A university student allegedly raped a Class VI student of a prominent school in the basement parking of a housing society in Sector 84 here on Wednesday.

Accused, Piyush, 22, who studies in a private university, lives in the same society as the victim. He is on the run.

Child Welfare Committee sources said the girl and the accused knew each other and had connected on Instagram three months ago. The police said the accused had raped the victim, around 11 years of age, on two occasions earlier.

The police registered a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on Thursday based on the complaint of the girl's mother.

The accused lived in a first-floor flat with his elder brother.
