Truckers’ stir hits transportation of goods

The indefinite strike by Rajasthan truck operators against toll tax and other demands on Thursday hit the movement of goods in the State, with over 6.34 lakh trucks getting off roads.

Over seven lakh daily wage employees working for 13,000 transport companies across the State went on strike, Jaipur Truck Transport Operators Association spokesman said here.

An official report at the Transport Commissioner indicated that the trucks were not in operation in Sikar, Behror, Bhiwadi, Banswara, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, and Beawar and Jaipur districts since midnight on Wednesday.

Truckers went on nationwide indefinite strike on Thursday morning on the call of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) to protest against the present toll system, he said.- PTI
