Three Dalit girls found dead in U.P. village

Bodies of three Dalit girls, who have been missing for the past couple of days, was found in Barhaj area of Deoria disrict in east Uttar Pradesh.

Two of the three girls were minors. “Bodies of Priti (9), Pinky (13) and Indu (18), who were missing since Friday, were found with serious head injuries near Katiyari village,” Deoria Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said.

Stating that rape of the three girls could not be ruled out, he said the bodies have been sent for port-mortem examination to ascertain the cause and time of death.

The post-mortem examination would be conducted by a panel of doctors and a team of forensic experts from Lucknow, he added.
