Student beaten to death in Gurgaon

A student was beaten to death at a birthday party here over a dispute over dancing and playing songs, police said on Tuesday.

Police said that a birthday party was organised in Subhash Nagar area in Gurgaon on Monday. Rohit, a student and a resident of Krishna Colony, along with others, was at the party.

Assistant commissioner of Police (ACP) Hawa Singh said that a brawl started over playing songs and dancing on the floor.

Mr. Singh said that a group of people wanted to dance to their own choice of songs and they asked Rohit to leave the dance floor.

The argument eventually exacerbated and Rohit was beaten with hockey sticks and rods, police said.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in an unconscious state but was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Police have detained a few people, including some students, over the incident.
