A day after Delhi’s Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested over the fake law degree issue, a Bharatiya Janata Party Minister in Maharashtra has landed in trouble over submitting affidavits with different educational qualifications.
The affidavits submitted by Babanrao Lonikar, an MLA from Partur constituency in the State’s Jalna district and Minister of Water Supply and Sanitation in the State Cabinet, in the 2009 and 2014 Assembly elections, show that his educational qualification has come down from a first year graduate student to fifth standard pass.
In 2004 and 2009, the Minister had said in an affidavit that he has First Year of Bachelor of Arts course from Yashavantrao Chavan Open University. However, it was changed in 2014 and he even lowered his qualification. Mr. Lonikar’s affidavit for this election says that he has passed fifth standard only.
The Minister could not be contacted to seek his reply.
