North Goa court notice to SP over FIR against Tourism Minister

The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), north Goa on Friday issued a show cause notice to Superintendent of Police, Crime (Goa) for not submitting as directed a status report on the investigation carried out in an F.I.R of cheating that was registered on January 17 against Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar’.

The FIR against the Minister pertains to 599 sq mt Serula Communidade land grab case. The JMFC has sought an explanation from SP, Crime on August 4.

On a petition filed by activist lawyer Aires Rodrigues under Section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Mapusa JMFC had directed the Porvorim Police, north Goa to register an FIR for offences under sections 119, 120, 420 read with 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, against Mr. Parulekar, Mr. Peter Martins, then attorney of Communidade of Serula and Mrs. Irene Sequeira, then Administrator of Communidade of Bardez and to investigate the matter.

The Communidade is an age-old village land commune which is unique to Goa, an erstwhile Portuguese colony.
