Media offices in Itanagar vandalised

May 08, 2011 07:12 pm | Updated 07:12 pm IST - Itanagar

A group of youths, allegedly supporters of Nabam Tuki, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee president and State PWD Minister, on Sunday attacked several media offices here apparently to protest a report in a leading daily involving their leader.

The offices of PTI, Arunachal Front, a local newspaper, and other media organisations were targeted by them.

The youths destroyed computers, inverters, telephones and other stuff.

Security was tightened at the media offices after an FIR was filed at the Itanagar police station following the incident which occurred a little after four pm.

Mr. Tuki’s supporters were apparently protesting over certain references to their community in a newspaper report in the context of the chief ministerial race following the death of Dorjee Khandu in a helicopter crash on April 30.
