With Haryana figuring high on the list of States reporting the most fatal accidents and casualties, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday approved a new ‘Haryana Road Safety Fund Scheme’ of the Haryana Police for ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and safe travel of road users.

Mr. Khattar said the new scheme would also reduce the rate of accidents and mortality on national highways, State highways and other roads.

For Haryana the scheme is of great importance as it reports nearly 11,000 accidents annually.

The fund would be utilised to procure traffic lights, enforcement equipment like radar guns, interceptors, alco-sensors, proper gear for traffic policemen such as helmets, fluorescent jackets, belts and pollution masks, and barricades and cones for regulation of traffic.
