Gurgaon gets ‘solar colony’

May 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:17 am IST - GURGAON

Nirvana Country, an upscale residential colony in Sector 50 here, is all set to become the city’s first “solar colony”.

A first-of-its-kind Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and Nirvana Country Residents Welfare Association in this regard.

As per the MoU, the PGCIL has been appointed as a solar consultant for Nirvana RWA for solar generation, integration and energy efficiency.

The PGCIL will also help in creating the detailed project report, preparation of a bid document, invitation of bids as well as finalisation of contract.

Ideal for solar energy

With large buildings and enough number of sunny days, Gurgaon is ideally placed to exploit the goodness of solar energy.

The new solar policy by the Haryana government announced in September 2014 promotes the growth of solar energy in the State.
