A terrorist has been arrested and booked under the stringent Public Safety Act in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said here today.

On a tip off, police arrested Hizb terrorist Sameer Ahmed Wani of Achabal tehsil in Anantnag district last night, he said.

He was slapped with PSA and sent to a jail, he said.

Wani was involved in different cases like robbery, extortion and use of arms, he said, adding that he was also instrumental in intensifying the militancy and criminal activities in the state, especially in Anantnag district.

He was earlier arrested in 2002 and later released on bail after remaining in jail for several years.
