Madhya Pradesh government has decided to hike the salaries and allowances of judges and retired judicial officers in the State.

The move comes after the government accepted the recommendations of the E. Padmanabhan Committee, which reviewed their salaries and allowances.

The government has decided to implement the committee’s recommendations with retrospective effect from January 1, 2006, Madhya Pradesh Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra announced here on Friday.

He said 40 per cent of the arrears will be deposited in GPF accounts of the beneficiaries, while 30 per cent would be paid in cash during the current fiscal. The remaining 30 per cent will be paid in the financial year 2011-12.

The upward pay revision of lower court judges and judicial officers will put an annual burden of Rs 20.05 crore on the state exchequer and Rs. 105.24 crore on account of payment of arrears, Mr. Mishra said.
