A man from Kerala was among the pilgrims killed in the stampede during the Haj at Mina, near the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, according to information received by the state government here.

“The government has received information that one Keralite Mohammed from Kodungaloor in Thrissur district was among those killed in the stampede,” Rural Development and Non Resident Keralite Affairs (NORKA) Minister K C Joseph said. The deceased had gone for the Haj through a privately-sponsored group, he said. A woman from the state was among those injured, he added.
