Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has dared TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu to move a no-confidence motion against his government.
Addressing journalists in his village, Nagaripalle, on Sunday, Mr. Reddy said he pitied the plight of Mr. Naidu, with his obsession to gain power and the piquant situation he and his party were facing in the complex political scenario in the State.
Mr. Reddy said he was ready to face the no-confidence motion at any time and asserted that despite all the political manipulations by his detractors, the Congress government in the State would not only last till 2014 but would also bounce back to power in the next elections.
In an indirect barb at the YSR Congress chief and Kadapa MP, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr. Reddy said even political novices who had no clarity in their minds about the number of legislators required to move a no-confidence motion in the Assembly against a government were indulging in rabble-rousing about it.
Mr. Reddy said there would be another Cabinet expansion, but declined to say when this would take place. He agreed that paddy farmers were facing a genuine problem, vis-a-vis the procurement and MSP, and promised that a lasting and mutually acceptable solution would be found within a week.
Asserting that his government would further tone up all the ongoing development works, Mr. Reddy sought to take pride over the ‘Indira Prabha' programme, which envisaged reclaiming and refurbishing 10 lakh acres of land allotted to SCs and STs in the State for micro irrigation.
