Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu today challenged the YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy asking him to prove his might by parading the MLAs supporting him before the Governor, before “dislodging the Kiran Kumar Reddy government”.

“If you prove your strength before the Governor, we are ready to dislodge the government by moving a no-confidence motion,” Mr. Chandrababu Naidu hit back at Jagan at the TDP’s annual general body meeting Mahanadu in Hyderabad on Friday.

Over the past few days, Mr. Jagan has been saying that he was unable to do anything to dislodge the Congress government alleging that the TDP was in a match-fixing deal with the ruling party. He had challenged Mr. Chandrababu to move a no-confidence against the government.

“The YSR Congress party leader had been claiming that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government is surviving at his mercy. This is a totally inept government. He says the government will fall if he opens his eyes. Let him open his eyes,” Mr. Chandrababu said, taking a dig at Mr. Jagan.

“We can’t move a no-confidence motion when the Assembly is not in session. Yes, the TDP will move a no-confidence against the State government on the farmers’ issue. But let the YSR Congress party parade the MLAs on its side before the Governor,” the TDP chief said.

“Then, the government will be required to seek a confidence vote and the TDP shall vote against it. It will become clear who is in match-fixing with whom,” he added.

Mr. Naidu went on criticising the YSR Congress in indirect words. “There are some MLAs in the State who married someone (Congress), but living with someone else (YSR Congress). Is this morality? They can obtain divorce as per law if they don’t like the marriage but they are not doing so,” he said.

The Leader of Opposition recalled that they had moved a no-confidence motion against the then YSR government four years after it came to power.

“Mr. Jagan walked out of the Congress only because of differences in sharing the booty, looted when his father was in power,” he said.
