Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the YSR Vahana Mitra scheme in Eluru on Friday.
He will distribute ₹10,000 financial assistance to auto, taxi and maxi driver-cum-owners.
Mr. Reddy, during his padayatra in Eluru on May 14, 2018, had promised self-employed auto-rickshaw drivers financial assistance for maintenance upon coming to power.
The annual allowance would be given to them to meet the insurance premium, licence fee and other recurring expenses.
The government issued a GO in this regard on September 9 to frame guidelines for the eligibility criteria. The government allocated a budget of ₹400 crore in the annual budget for implementation of the welfare scheme. Of this, SCs would get ₹68 crore, STs ₹20 core and the remaining amount for others.
The government received 1,75,352 applications under the scheme. Out of this, 1,73,102 were cleared. Of the sanctioned number, there were 1,56,804 auto drivers, 5,093 maxi drivers and 1,205 taxi drivers.
Visakhapatnam tops the list of beneficiaries with 24,512 followed by Krishna with 20,333 and East Godavari with 19,209 autos, a press release said.
