Sheela Sara Abraham, nodal officer, Tata Teleservices, Kerala, who is a prosecution witness in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case told the trial court here on Friday that over 50 phone calls had been made a few minutes before the killing of the Revolutionary Marxist Party leader from two Tata Indicom mobile phone SIM cards allegedly procured by the accused.
Deposing before R. Narayana Pisharadi, special judge, Special Additional District and Sessions Court (Marad Cases), Ms. Abraham said 50 calls had been made from the mobile phone numbers 7736 822709 and 8606 398416 on May 4, 2012.
The case relates to a gang allegedly hired by a section of leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) hacking to death Chandrasekharan at Onchiyam.
Details handed over
The witness said the details of the phone calls of the two SIM cards had been given to the investigation team. This was after investigators gave a request in this regard.
The mobile tower locations of these numbers at that time had been identified at Orkatteri, Chorodu, Madapally, Nadapuram Road, Vallikadu, Chokli, and Valayam.
The telecom service provider had collected the call details and recorded them. On the day of the killing, the SIM cards had been destroyed, she said.
According to the prosecution, the hired killers had allegedly procured three SIM cards of Tata Indicom by producing fake documents. These were destroyed after Chandrasekharan was killed. The mobile phone number 7736822709 was procured by the third accused N.K. Sunil Kumar, aka Kodi Suni, and the other number, 8606398416, was used by the 29th accused, K.P. Dipin.
It was found that the calls had been mainly received from 7736822709 to two numbers – 8606398416 and 9747170471. However, it was from 7.45 p.m. onwards that the calls were made and many of them lasted less than a minute. One of the SIM cards had been deactivated by the service operators after the application had been found incorrect.
