Most parts of Tamil Nadu will continue to get moderate rain till Saturday, according to the Meteorological Department.

While rain may remain subdued over Chennai, there may be heavy rain in one or two places till Saturday, said an official.

The depression over the Arabian Sea is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm on Friday and move east-northeastwards till October 25, after which it is expected to recurve and move towards the south Oman and Yemen coast in three days. The well-marked low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal now lies over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha and westcentral parts.

Chennai may get light showers in some areas till Sunday. “Rains may have reduced over the city. But many places across the State received fairly widespread rainfall during the past 24 hours till Thursday morning,” S. Balachandran, Deputy Director General of Meteorology, Chennai, said.
