The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and the CPI (M) said on Thursday said that they will take part in the State-wide bandh on Friday, called by the DMK.
In separate statements, both TNCC president Su. Thirunavukkarasar and CPI (M) State secretary K. Balakrishnan demanded the resignation of the AIADMK-led government over the police firing in Thoothukudi.
They appealed to the people seeking their cooperation in making the bandh a success.
The TNCC president criticised Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for his reluctance to visit the victims of police action.
The CPI (M) said the State government was operating as a stooge of the Vedanta group.
