The district unit of the Bajrang Dal on Wednesday sought the State government’s permission for Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) International unit’s working president Pravin Togadia to address the Hindu Samjotsava in Bengaluru on February 8.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Rajashekarananda Swami from Vajradehi Math said Mr. Togadia had not so far made any speech that had hurt the religious sentiments of other communities. “He has been speaking with the motive of uniting the Hindus and has in no way hurt other religions,” he said.
The swami said the stone-throwing incident and arson reported in Karaya near Uppinangady was in no way associated with speeches made at VHP Virat Hindu Sangama, Puttur on January 16. The government should allow Togadia to participate in the meeting or face protests from the VHP and other affiliated units, he said.
The swami said a Hindu Samajotsava will be held in Mangaluru’s Nehru Maidan on March 1. Sadhvi Saraswati will deliver a key note address at the event. Mr. Togadia will not take part in that event. The police had not objected to conducting the event.
Meanwhile, the VHP and Bajrang Dal activists carried out a protest condemning the Bengaluru police’s action denying entry to Togadia in Bengaluru between February 5 and February 11.
