P.V. Sadashivan, 53, from near UC College, Aluva, a permanent driver with the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), was beaten to death by two persons at the Aluva depot of the transport corporation around 7 p. m. on Saturday.

The Aluva police arrested two persons, Ashraf, 37, of Athani and Anas, 45, of Muppathadam, in connection with the incident.

The police said Ashraf and Anas came on a motorcycle to the depot in the evening and started beating and kicking the driver, who collapsed during the melee and was taken to the Aluva Taluk Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

They escaped initially though the motorcycle was seized by the police.

The bus had arrived at Aluva from Cochin Cooperative Medical College and it is learnt that the attackers had an altercation with the driver in Aluva.

The KSRTC employees present at the depot took out a protest march immediately after the incident and demanded the arrest of the culprits.

They went on a flash strike. KSRTC services from Aluva depot are likely to be affected on Sunday.
