It was an emotional rally at Friday midnight on the campus of University of Hyderabad. What appeared to be a small gathering of students around 9 p.m. at the hunger strike camp on the university campus turned into a massive assembly within two hours to take out candle light rally marking birth anniversary of Rohith Vemula, dalit research scholar who committed suicide recently.

Initially, the small group of students started as a rally from the dais and headed towards a rotary on the campus. As others joined en route, soon it became a big procession. Several woman students joined the rally. After traversing through the main road of the campus, the procession of students carrying lights reached the dais.

As 'Rohith Amar Rahe' slogans rented the air, an emotionally charged atmosphere filled the air with students raising posters of Rohith midst of candle lights.
