One of the latest restaurants to debut in Delhi is Porterhaus, which serves quality food which is rare to find, its fare is way above the medium class outlets and is really well done when it comes to steaks.
Porterhaus is all together a different genre as there is hardly any hardcore restaurant for non-vegetarians. For me it came as a blessing as I love meats. When I say meat I mean the tenderloins, T bone, rib eye and all… It is nestled at South Court Mall, Saket which is considered to be a dull mall but I am sure that Porterhaus will be the soul of the mall and will keep it kicking. Owned by Kuldip Tolia whose passion for biking and steaks instigated him to come up with his own place where his fellow bikers can chill out and load themselves with energy boosters before hitting the road. Dedicated parking space for bikers right in front attracts them to drop in for a quick bite.
Well, the menu is exciting but I went quite focused with clear preferences of steaks. Though soups were on offer but who cares? I ordered a 12 oz rib eye steak done medium rare in a Porterhaus original glaze sauce. As it took time to come I nibbled on some starters and salad. Roasted beetroot with orange gel was served to me and it was a visual delight. For a minute I just looked at it and then very delicately put my fork into the flavourful refreshing beetroot. The most dominating aroma and flavour was of the in-house made mustard dressing which added zing to the salad.
Charcoal chicken wings followed next and were disappointing. As it lacked the earthy aroma and was undercooked as well. I passed around half an hour and my steak was ready. First glance at the perfectly done rib eye made me restless and without wasting any time I had a bite and just closed my eyes and let the flavours travel. It was a damn good steak.
Next was the T bone steak which under-performed compared to the rib eye. Meat near the T bone was almost rare though I ordered medium well. The classic Wellington came as a surprise and was delicious though a layer between the tenderloin and puff pastry would have helped the crust to remain crunchy.
I ended by hogging on to a tenderloin burger which was worth every bite.
Finally, Delhi has got a Steakhouse.
