A musical homage to Ramadas , a great devotee of Sri Rama, was conducted by Swarajhari Sabha at Sri Sivaramakrishna Kshetram, Vijayawada, with a large number of people attending the Ramadas keertana rendering by almost all the musicians in the city.
Senior musicians like Malladi Suribabu, Modumudi Sudhakar and Anjana, Malladi brothers Sriram Prasad and Ravikumar, Pemmaraju, Vishnubhotla sisters Saraswathi and Krishnaveni, Popuri Gowrinath and Gayatri, Manda Krishna Mohan, K.V. Bramhanandam, C.V.P. Sastri, K. Lakshmi Narasamma, Pappu Sadasiva Sastri rendered without repetition of keertanas with devotional fervour.
Palaparthi Nageswara Rao, Ganduri Srinivasa Murthy and L.Vijayalakshmi played the violin in support of the singers while Mahadevu Lakshminarayana Raju, B.V.S. Prasad, P.S. Phalgun, M. Vijayakumar and B.K. Aravind provided support on mridangam.
A platform for young artistes
The inaugural function of summer music and dance classes, conducted by AP Department of Culture and the Government Music College, was held at Gokaraju Laila Gangaraju Kala Vedika . The chief guest for the occasion, Gokaraju Gangaraju of A.P. Department of Culture and the Government Music College, stated that the classes would help inculcate an urge among youngsters to learn classical arts in a serious manner. The function also coincided with the annual day celebrations of the 50-year-old Ghantasala Government College of Music and Dance, which gave a platform to many musicians, dancers and instrumentalists. The college has nearly 1000 students learning various disciplines like Carnatic vocal, veena, violin, mridangam, tabla, Kuchipudi dance and Bharatanatyam. Delightful music and dance programmes by college students followed the function.
