Lalgud Jayaraman, one of the doyens of Carnatic music, was a Carnatic violinist, vocalist and composer. Jayaraman’s career in music included collaborations with other celebrated violinists like TN Krishnan, MS Gopalakrishnan and Yehudi Menuhin and vocalists Balamuralikrishna and Bombay Jayashri. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2001. He died in 2013 aged 82.
