JD(S) Legislature Party leader H.D. Kumaraswamy alleged that Governor Vajubhai Vala has “misused the Raj Bhavan” by administering the oath to B.S. Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister on Thursday.

Mr. Kumaraswamy lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “misusing” the office for installation of the BJP Government in the State which has no majority of seats in the Legislative Assembly.

The JD(S) leader alleged that the BJP-led central government, through the Enforcement Directorate, is threatening some of the Congress and JD(S) MLAs if they failed to support the BJP Government. “Are BJP MLAs honest in the country? Is this Modi government cleaning the country?” he asked.

“The Modi government wanted to demolish democracy in the country. The Modi government is threatening and putting pressure on MLAs,” he said.

“The problem is to save our MLAs, we have to be together,” he said adding that all JD(S) members are joining the protest commenced by the Congress in front of the Gandhi statue in Vidhana Soudha.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said “I will ask my father to take lead to prevent destruction of the country by the BJP and Modi government.”

He also appealed to Chief Ministers such as Chandrababu Naidu, Mamata Banerjee, Naveen Patnaik, Chandrashekar Rao to come together to oppose the Modi government’s policies to save democracy and the constitution. He also called out to the people of the State to come to the streets to launch protest against the formation of the BJP Government.

Gowda joins protest

Former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda too joined the protest launched by the Congress outside the Vidhna Soudha.

Newly elected members and senior leaders of the Congress and JD(S) shouted slogans against the Modi government and the BJP president Amit Shah.
