Pan-India collection

The 65th annual number of Bhavan’s Journal is an interesting blend of articles touching on various subjects penned by learned authors. There is something here to engage every reader. In keeping with the mood of the moment — Independence Day, the cover has the Tricolour accompanied by the legend, ‘India lives in its Villages’ and fittingly an essay by Mahatma Gandhi, reproduced from an issue of 1968 is the first. Fascinating is the story of jawan Jawant Singh Rawat, who played a heroic role in the 1962 Indo-China war and whom the rival country honoured with a title. M.S. Swaminathan talks of sustainable development and ways to achieve it. Education, health and spiritual are among the other topics in this volume, priced at ₹30.
