It was saddening to read that cricketer Yuvraj Singh, diagnosed with cancer, is fighting for his life (Feb. 6). The dashing young player is down but certainly not out. He made us all proud when he was named Man of the Series in the 2011 World Cup, which India won. We wish him a speedy recovery and good health through the columns of The Hindu .

Yuvaraj is sure to fight the rare tumour with all courage and confidence. Cancer can be fought by getting rid of negativity and forecasts of gloom and doom. There is no medicine like hope. Nothing is terminal; everything is transitional. Let us pray for his long life and hope he will return to the cricket field. He will surely play the second innings of his life.

It is disheartening to know that Yuvraj has been diagnosed with cancer. He is a hero for all cricket fans. We are confident that he will throw cancer out of his life. We have a teacher who is battling cancer. But she has not lost her spirit for teaching and life.
