Activists opposing the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) have urged Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to visit protesters observing indefinite fast at Idinthakarai against the nuclear power plant.
As Ms. Jayalalithaa is scheduled to address an election meeting in Tirunelveli on Wednesday, the anti-KKNPP protesters have appealed to her to visit them to understand the situation prevailing in the coastal region of the district after the agitation commenced.
Tension
Tension prevailed at Kudankulam for a while on Wednesday when some of the agitators prevented contract labourers working at KKNPP from going to their workplace.
As the police supported the labourers, they blocked vehicular traffic.
However, they were pacified and taken to the protest venue by the organisers.
