Bihar has only 80 cops for one lakh population

Bihar has only 80 cops to look after the security of one lakh population, State parliamentary affairs minister Vijendra Yadav said today.

Responding to a question raised by JD(U) MLA Izhar Ahmed in the assembly, Mr. Yadav said that Bihar has only 80 cops for a population of one lakh as against the national average of 145 cops for the same number of people.

There was a total number of 85,167 cops in Bihar, he said.

Mr. Yadav said that a proposal was pending before the State government to raise the police ratio.
