Advani thanks Jayalalithaa for timely action

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has directed the police to bring to book quickly those behind the plot to blow up the convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani.

In a statement issued on Saturday, she said that the police, which had filed a case, was carrying out an intensive investigation.

In the morning, Mr. Advani spoke to her over phone and thanked her for the timely action, the Chief Minister said. Ms. Jayalalithaa expressed relief over the detection of the pipe bomb on the originally proposed route of Mr. Advani, who is undertaking the Jan Chetna Yatra. She also commended Selvaraj, resident of Alampatti village, Selvam, councillor of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and the police for foiling the conspiracy.

In Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Advani, in his interaction with reporters, complimented the Tamil Nadu government and the police for detecting the pipe bomb. He urged the State government to nab the perpetrators behind the act.
