Woman gang-raped in Rae Bareli

A 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by four youths at Unchahar in Rae Bareli district on Sunday.

The youths were arrested on Monday and a case under Section 376 of the IPC was registered at the Unchahar station.

Special Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal told journalists here that the woman, belonging to Binai ka Purwa, was enticed by Ashutosh Dwivedi of the same village and taken to a nearby colony. He called his friends Ashish Mishra, Amit Jaiswal and Rehman and raped her.

Mr. Lal said Ashutosh Dwivedi told the police that he was in a relationship with her. But in the FIR filed by the girl, it was said she was brought by Amit Jaiswal to the place, where the other three youths were present.

'Honour ' killing

In a suspected case of ‘honour killing' in Muzaffarnagar district, a couple were found in a critical condition in the jungles of Aliyarpur on Sunday.

Mr. Lal said investigation revealed that they were beaten up by the girl's relatives and left in the forest. The 18-year-old girl died of injuries while being taken to a hospital in Meerut on Monday.

The boy, Hamza, 22, and the girl belonged to Paldi village. She went away with him, but the girl's uncles, Shamim, Rashid and Nasir, caught the couple at Soram, beat them up before abandoning them in the jungle near Aliyarpur.
