The family members of the 16-year-old gang rape victim of Madhyamgram will meet President Pranab Mukherjee on January 7 to demand a CBI inquiry.

“We don’t know what will happen to us, we are afraid about our safety. We want a CBI inquiry into my daughter’s death. We will meet the President and place our demand for a CBI inquiry,” said the father of the victim.

The father criticised the police saying that a forensic team was yet to visit the house, where his daughter was set on fire.

“What are they investigating? The incident happened on December 23, but the forensic team is yet to visit the house and collect samples,” he said.

A murder case has been filed by the police against the two main accused in the gang-rape of the victim who died due to burn injuries, with doctors saying she was pregnant at the time of her death.

The girl, who was brutalised twice on October 25, had died at a government-run city hospital on December 31 from burns received on December 23.

The death of the girl sparked outrage in the metropolis with the family of the victim alleging that they were threatened by the police to leave the state.
