Social activist Aires Rodrigues on Tuesday urged the Election Commission that the notification issued in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections banning the sale of alcohol in Goa from 6pm on April 10 till the conclusion of polling on April 12, be strictly enforced in the Casinos and five star hotels across the State.

Mr. Rodrigues wrote to Goa Chief Electoral Officer Keshav Chandra drawing his attention to the fact, the blatant violations of notification of this kind in the past.

Demanding raids by the flying squads on the Casinos and five star hotels, he urged the Election Commission to ensure that prompt steps are taken to ensure that there is no violation of the notification in connivance with the enforcing authorities.

Goa goes to polls on Saturday.
