The Puducherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation has attributed the delay in commissioning the allotted coal block to the Odisha government not issuing a Prospecting Licence, which is required to carry out exploration and preparing the geological report.

This was the response sent by Managing Director of PIPDIC W.V.R Murthy [who has since been transferred] in May this year to the Coal Ministry’s show-cause notice.

However, the Corporation got clearances from the Departments of Mines, Forest and Revenue of the Odisha Government.
