BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address three rallies in Bihar next month, BJP State president Mangal Pandey said here on Sunday.
Mr. Modi will hold rallies in Muzaffarpur district on March 3, in Purnea district on March 10 and in Gaya district on March 14. His last rally in Patna in October was rocked by serial blasts.
A controversy arose over Mr. Modi’s Muzaffarpur rally with the BJP accusing the Nitish government of allotting a small ground for the event.
“The government rejected our demand for a bigger ground. So we have decided to shift the March 3 rally to a maidan owned by Sahara India in the Bakhri-Parimasa area on the Darbhanga-Muzaffarpur national highway,” Mr. Pandey said.
Rail roko
The BJP appealed to Mr. Kumar to support its ‘rail roko’ campaign on February on the issue of special status for Bihar.
“If Mr. Kumar supports us, we will also think of supporting his call for Bihar bandh on March 2,” BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said. Taking a dig at Mr. Kumar, he said the Chief Minister strategically declared a bandh on March 2, a Sunday, when most things are closed.
The BJP also demanded a special package for Bihar and tax incentives to industries setting shop in the State, Mr. Sushil Modi said.
