Suspected Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) members on Monday vandalized an office of the Indiabulls limited in Amravati city of Maharashtra.
The attack came hours after the MNS chief Raj Thackeray, during a rally in Amravati, had threatened protest over the diversion of drinking water to the Indiabulls Thermal power project on Sunday.
“There is drought in almost all parts of the state and the Indiabulls is being provided drinking water here, it’s shameful” Mr. Raj Thackeray had said on Sunday.
“ Udya Amravatimadhe Indiabulls virodhat Andolan jhalech pahije (there should be a protest against Indiabulls in Amravati tomorrow )” Mr. Raj had told his party men.
However, the Amravati police commissioner Ajit Patil denied that there was an attack by MNS workers.
“There has been no attack. Only some seven to eight men tried to enter the office of Indiabulls” Mr. Patil told The Hindu .
But a cameraman of a Marathi News channel Sanjay Shende, who was present on the spot of the incident said that around 25 to 30 MNS workers attacked the office of Indiabulls in Amravati. They broke open the door of the office forcibly and vandalized the office.
According to Mr. Shende, all of them were carrying the MNS flag and were shouting slogans against Indiabulls.
