The Maoists killed a villager on the suspicion him being a police informer in Kanker district of South Chhattisgarh on Monday.

“ Bablu Das, a resident of Sanur village under Chote Betia police station, was killed by the Maoists on the suspicion of being a police informer last night. He was sitting at his home when the Maoists surrounded and shot him dead,” Kanker district Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr.M.L.Kotwani told The Hindu .

The killing has terrorized villagers in the area as it took place hardly four kilometers from a Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Nagaldand village.

But Mr.Kotwani said that the camp was not “nearby”.

“According to the villagers around 15 to 20 Maoists came to execute this murder. Bablu Das was a common civilian with no connections with any political party or the police. The Maoists want to justify his killing by terming him a police informer. But he was not a police informer,” added the SP.
